Cupcakes. They’re awesome, right?
Right!
And that’s why gourmet cupcake shops are popping up all over the place, even in a down economy.
I must confess, however, that we have several right here in my city and I’ve never been to any of them.
But last week when I was presented with an opportunity to order something, on the house, from Red Envelope, a retailer I happen to really like, can you guess what I selected?
That’s right…I got CUPCAKES!
They were delivered right to my front door in a chilled box—Twelve Vanilla Bean, Dark Chocolate and Red Velvet Cupcakes!

And OMG. They were SO GOOD.
The red velvets were my favorite. They had amazing fluffy cream cheese frosting and a chocolate truffle center that melted in my mouth. Holy wow…they were something else.
My husband and son’s faves were the dark chocolate with deep chocolate frosting.
And the vanilla bean cupcakes were inhaled by my daughter and her BFF. (And as an added bonus, they are peanut-safe. This is super important because my daughter has a life-threatening peanut allergy)
I got these as a birthday/great report cards/early Valentine’s gift for the whole family but if I found myself needing to send a really special present to someone far away, I promise you I will skip the flowers and send them the gourmet cupcakes from Red Envelope instead…something which NEVER would have occurred to me prior to spotting them on their web site last week.
Cupcakes. In the mail. GENIUS!
And whoever gets them? Will probably put you in their will…or ask you to marry them.
For real. They’re that good.
*These cupcakes were purchased with a gift card provided to me by Red Envelope. My opinions are my own.

Awesome. I’ll have to check them out. I’m always on the lookout for something different to gift a long-time friend.
They really are a nice switch from the old standby’s. And thank you for commenting on a review post. I always appreciate it :)
Hi, those look amazing. I have a peanut-allergic child too, and I was wondering how you knew those were safe. Did it say when you got them? I would have been afraid to buy them since I couldn’t tell from the link.
I called and asked Red Envelope. They emailed me a PDF with the Nutrition Facts, which you can actually see here: http://foodservice.sweetstreet.com/product_details/sellsheet/disp_VPackDetail.cfm?c=8353
