Wendy, I’m Scared!

The other night Wendy and I went to the movies and saw Disturbia. Can I just tell you that it was SO dang scary & suspenseful!

I must have said “Wendy, I’m scared!” about ten times while looking between my fingers.

If you haven’t seen it yet and you’re looking for something fun and intelligent rather than serious or depressing to go see, Disturbia is a winner.

The female teen character was smart and empowered and she was very pretty but not cheesy. The male lead character wasn’t your typical Hollywood pretty boy but rather, an average kid like the one that lives across the street from you.

The story is loosely based on the Hitchcock classic thriller Rear Window but this movie had me on the edge of my seat in a way Rear Window never managed to do. And it had a good soundtrack.

But the thing I liked the best is that there was no gratuitous violence, gore or blood, all of which I hate. I don’t know how I was able to watch Friday the 13th and Halloween and all the other gross slasher movies from the seventies and eighties… Yuck!

Rated PG-13, I give Disturbia two thumbs up :)

This has been a taxing week. For several days I’ve been afflicted with some mysterious condition that defies description that I like to call I just don’t feel well. The kids are being really difficult for reasons unbeknownst to me and sadly, their paternal great-grandmother just passed away. Today is the service and funeral.

Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks to the folks that continue to come around even though my blog reading has been somewhat abominable lately. I appreciate the time you take in stopping by and your comments are like a warm, sunny day (well, most of them…) Once things calm down around here, I hope to get back in the groove and catch up. Until then…just thanks :)

    Sorry about grandma. :(

I hope you are feeling better.

My kids have been acting …um…quite lovely…this week as well. What’s up with that?

Feel better soon! Sorry about Great-Grandmother.

Thanks for the movie suggestion…I hadn’t heard of it.

I hope you are on the mend! And I’m far too chicken to see that movie - especially if you were peeking out from behind your hand.

Sorry to hear about your Great Grandma…

Don’t ever apologize for not getting around - my goodness woman! We’re all busy! I’m a horrible one for reading and not commenting these days. :) It’s all good.

Ooh, I love me a good thriller! Even though if it’s scary in the slightest, I too have my hand in front of my face and persistently nudge the hubs so that he can tell me when it’s OK to look again.

When I was six months’ pregnant with Ben I was persuaded to see the first “Scream.” At one point I was so scared I literally jumped out of my chair. I then spent the next hour freaking out that the rush of adrenaline might bring on preterm labor.

Ai! I can’t watch scary. I’ll rip the arm off my companion.

Hope you’re feeling better soon! We all have our down moments where blogging takes a back seat to the rest of life. It’s OK, we’ll be here when you’re ready. :)

I’ve wanted to see that movie, but now I think I’ll wait a bit. I don’t do well with scary.

We were just talking about this movie the other night and my friend wasn’t sure how you could improve upon Hitchcock. Maybe I’ll see it now!

Aw, so sorry about your grandmother. My daughter got to meet her great grandmother only once, when she was too young to remember it, and I’ve always thought it’s such a shame that my son will never even have that. She was an amazing lady. A toast to great grandmothers!

I’m a big ol’ sissy when it comes to scary movies. I had a very VERY tamely scary dream last night and couldn’t go back to sleep forever…and had to leave on the light. Heh. So yeah.

Sorry to hear about Grandma. Big hugs to your family.

Make that two thumbs up. Scary and fun. But watch out for bruised arms from the person next to you grabbing them and saying that they’re scared!

So sorry to hear about your loss. Condolences to you and the entire family.

I’m also sorry to hear you’re not feeling well, nor are the kids. It’s rough when you have a general feeling of malaise. There’s no way to combat or treat it except to ride it out, and that gets old very fast. Sending you lots of warm, get-well thoughts…

“Disturbia,” huh? I was thinking about going to the movies this weekend, so I will keep your recommendation in mind.

Sorry to hear about your loss.

Hang in there. It will get better.

Will have to check that one out. I bet you and Wendy are a blast to watch a movie with!

So sorry to hear of your loss. My heart is with you and your family.

Also, Don’t feel bad — my child has been a total pain lately too. He was in time out THREE times already this morning. I don’t know what his deal is.

Please take care of yourself and hope you feel better soon.

I’m very sorry to hear about your husband’s grandmother. My sympathies to your family.

    Feel better soon, hon.

Sorry about your grandma and not feeling well. But a good film with a good friend is always a fabulous anecdote … only I am too much of a scardy cat for that flick!

Sorry to hear about their great-grandma’s passing. I lost my grandpa over a year ago. He was like my surrogate dad. I still ache over his loss.

I stumbled across your blog from Blogger Girls Blogroll :)

Disturbia is DEFINITELY a movie I’m longing to see!

Hope you feel well soon! My stomach had been bothering me Thursday and Friday ALL DAY ugh. I have no understanding for WHY it occured. Just know I don’t want it to again - lol

I tell you what, if I could get the last bits of dirt from the massive handful my daughter chucked in my face this afternoon, I might just go and see that movie. You do what you need to do, so sorry about the passing. I’ll be here when you get back and in the meantime will leave a nice Family Circus traipsing through the neighborhood dotted line pattern on your site meter as I pad to and fro like a faithful golden retriever waiting for your return. No pressure.
