Now Hear This!
Wait! Don’t leave yet. Turn up the volume on your computer a little and hit the pink button down there. You know you want to hear my voice…if only to compare it to mating baboons or something.
(does anyone remember when dooce posted that audio snippet of herself talking? I loved her accent so much, I played it like twenty times)
Oh c’mon. Like you have a better offer… Click the button already :)
***This is my first time ever doing something like this and admittedly, it’s a little longer than I had intended. Sorry about that! If I ever figure out how to edit it, I will.

That was fun - I enjoyed hearing your voice. Plus, I like the fact that you said “good bye” like you were hanging up the phone. I do that when I’m leaving a message on a friend’s voice mail, and this feels a bit like that.
That is so true about comments. This is great. Good to hear your voice!! I have a headset so I can leave you an audio message when I find it lol. And yes I listened to the whole thing. It doesn’t suck at all, it’s really cool. I have sent audio messages before on Bebo but my problem is that my voice is very quiet and I sound like a kid! Anyways ttyl.
1. That was the FUNNIEST thing I have ever heard. I’m not sure if you meant it to be funny, but it was f-king HILARIOUS if you ask me.
2. I listened to all 5+ minutes of it.
3. You DO have a nice voice. (I’m saying that in a totally, non-sexual way of course).
4. I just tagged you over at my blog. Participate if you wish!
okay, this is seriously really cool. I want one! Good to hear your voice!
I tried to talk back to you, but I either don’t have a mike setup on my computer, or I can’t figure it out!
I like the voice thing and you have a very nice voice. Like your blog also.
Okay. You have such a sweet voice. Me? I sound like a child. I can’t tell you how many times some telemarketer will ask me if my Mommy or Daddy is home. LOL. You’ve got a little twang to your voice that’s totally cool.
Now that I’ve heard your voice, a picture would go along nicely. ;)
I would leave you an audio message back, but you wouldn’t be able to hear my childlike voice due to my son screeching in the background. That and all I’d do is crackle and clear my throat because it’s not even 7am and I have barely spoken yet, nor have I had any coffee. Nectar of the gods.
One last thing. I always crack up when I hear myself say I’ve got two kids and a house to run.
Izzy, do you work at NPR? You have a very soothing, radio voice.
I love it! What an interesting perspective, to be able to put a voice with your writing. You have a GREAT laugh! It’s infectious. I want to leave you an audio message back, but I don’t have a mic. Besides, I’m with Mama Tulip. I have a child’s voice, too. And my laugh is “giggly” and annoying! :)
I’ve heard your voice before - but it was nice to hear again! So cute! Aw…
I want to get something like this so people can hear my daughter - oh, and so I can prove that I don’t have a southern accent OR a Jersey accent.
PS ~ Blogging as been the downfall of my home as well (and bad girl paying bills LOL.
PSS ~ I liked it because I can listen to you and then go do other things and hear your sweet voice chatting to me!
How cool! I agree with Kristen, your audio post allowed me to multitask - I could listen to you while cleaning up the mess my daughter just made.
You do have a very soothing voice. You could easily do NPR spots.
I have no microphone, but will have to look into one. Although I have a child-like nasal voice that I can’t stand to hear. At least I’ll be able to pick you out at Blogher by your voice now, instead of staring at everyone’s boobs to read their nametags!
im so looking for my mic right now…
ok, found the mic. it works when i use my webcam but for some reason it doesn’t work when I try to leave you a message.
annoying.
Anyway, my house runs me as well, and like yourself, I completely blame blogging. I like the audio clip thing. I think it would only work well in some instances however. Rambling posts are hard to read, but I think rambling talking would be harder even maybe. I think if you want to audio blog well, you need to still plan what you want to say just as you would a written post.
Just my 2 cents.
About the comments being the bread and butter of blogging- I hear that. I love getting comments. There was a week though, that I blogged with my comments off awhile ago, and I really enjoyed it. So it goes both ways. While the commenting and interaction is nice, sometimes its nice to turn the comments off for awhile and just post away.
I’m going to try to get my mic to work with odeo so I can leave you voice messages now. Later.
THAT WAS GREAT. I am a talk-radio junkie and that was as good or better than some of my favorites! I agree with you completely — comments are like potato chips…one is not enough! I also agree that with this changing blogosphere we may get a little sad sometimes that the small world afterall feeling is fleeting. So, while I really, really, really, enjoyed your audio post, please don’t stop writing. There is something so special about the written word. Now, I am going to see if I have a mic on this darned computer thingy.
that’s great. I love postcasting.
:-( I just recorded a message. Or, I tried to. The site worked but there is no MIC on this thing. I will try again when my laptop comes back from the hp hospital.
You sound like you should be on the radio telling us about the traffic or sports or something! Very cool.
I really liked your audio. I agree you need to be on the radio! Are you?
I so need to do this so everyone can hear my really southern accent!
Aww, you’ve got a sweet voice! LOL I was going to send yo a message, but I don’t know where my mic is…LOL
I’ll find it ;)
LOL- FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is too cool!
I kept thinking back to the days when I would record my voice on cassette tapes for my boyfriends telling them how much I loved them and blah, blah, blah. But this, it was way better than that!
Very cool!
I’m with Mama Tulip. Of course, it helps me get rid of telemarketers when I say I’m the babysitter.
You have a beautiful voice. I sound a lot like dooce, only more southern b/c Alabama hick is more southern than Tennesse hick.
I keep a page of notes for blogging ideas, too. Just in case I run out. I’ve never heard or seen baboons mating, but I’m pretty sure your voice wouldn’t remind me of it.
oh yea, forgot to tell ya that lube really works well in the back end…. if you know what I mean.. ride it girl!!!
You have a very nice speaking voice… I am envious because I sound like a smoker with a bad influence!
Thank you for visiting and commenting on my blog… I must no go and stalk my way through your archives!
That was AMAZING! Did anyone ever tell you that you sound like Susie Bright? I think her voice is great, and so is yours.
If I could get the audio message to work *sigh* I would leave you a message. I will try in IE instead of Firefox. Don’t be disappointed now :)
hehe Great audio post!!
Hearing one’s “real” voice always sucks…others always perceive it to be beautiful.
That was great. I loved hearing you “talk” to me. And I can relate to blogging being the downfall of the house — here I sit, while around me it is chaos, dishes and laundry to be done, etc.
I love your voice.
I will try to leave an audio message and see if it works. You’ll get to hear my squeaky voice, maybe. ;-)
Izzy! You have the cutest voice!
That was AWESOME! Izzy ROCKS!
Okay, you have a (kinda scary) audio message :)
I tried to leave an audio message but it seems when they made my laptop they falied to include a microphone. I hate that you have to miss out on the fact that I sound like a southern bell after a few bong hits, yet I am inspired to get a mic so stay tuned…Oh, and I liked your voice and D said “She sounds cool.” which is the ultimate compliment in this house.
how teh %$&(^) do you make an embedded microphone work? I *THINK* i have oone.. there is a circle with have moon indents and it looks suspiciously microphone like but i have zero idea how to make it function. I totally dug getting to hear your voice. If you get a moment please hop over to my arts and crafts blog Mama Makes Stuff, I’ve put out a call to the creative Mamas to apply to be featured. http://mamamakes.blogspot.com and i know first hand how dang cool your creative creations are! you can also check out the call on my regular blog, it’s the second post down
Pretty cool!
This was way cool…..I will have to give this a try, but if we all do it, then wouldn’t be the same as using a cell phone to call each other????? great post….
I am trying so hard to send you an audio message, that I could have walked to wherever you are, talked all day, and been back home. But no. I want to send a simple audio message, damnit. Even if it takes all night. :-)
so cool! I hope the one I sent you worked.
okay, i was one of the many who babbled into their monitor only to find out that there was no mic on the playback - a smart bunch aren’t we? anyway, you sound totally different from what i imagined. your voice is soft around the edges and swaying. i imagined something a little more gruff and loud. like me? maybe. anyway, i’m gonna have my hubby hook up the mic from the downstairs computer and try this thing again.
A very brief audio comment to all of you…
LOVE you, Izz. I love your voice, too. Call the networks!
ps- you can hear my crazy voice here- http://www.jennster.com/RadioJenn.html
and then click on the sound bytes at top! you get the idea!
Cool! I listened to all 5+ minutes of your message and I have to say that I am damn impressed by your ability to hold a one sided conversation for that long without any awkward pauses. Bravo.
Also, I was not expecting that voice - at all! I don’t know what I expected you to sound like, but that wasn’t it. Very pretty, though. :)
You are too modest - you have a great voice! I LOVED that - so entertaining, and, not to sound like a total lazy loser here, but it was easier than reading (you’ve heard about my aversion to any kind of physical exercise.)
So, yes, more of those! I think you should make it a weekly feature.
(My house runs me, as well.)
Ok, I didnt leave an audio but I posted a video on my blog so you can here my Southern accent there! LOL!
Wow you sound as friendly as I imagined! It makes me feel like I know another little piece of you.
Another cool idea for audio blogging would be to read one of your posts. We’d get to hear the dynamic of your story straight from you. Emotions come through so genuinely and nothing gets lost in between the lines.
How cool was that! I often try to picture what some of my favourite bloggers sound like. I am so glad you shared this piece of yourself.
That was fantastic! Izzy, I love your voice! You could totally do radio. :)
You have a very strong voice. I found myself wanting to talk back to you a couple of times, so that was weird. I’m going to have to do this, but I’m a little scared.
hey izzy, i was going to send you an audio message, but you removed your little “send me an odeo” button.
Get that button back up there sister!
Hi Izzy,
your voice sounds like the voice of the girl that was in the movie”Me, you and Everybody else” or something like that.
I found your blog on Monday doing some research on the sucking new Gerber packages (I don’t know if they are new, but my Junior #2 recently started solid and there was the surprise in store). I love your sense of humor. I’m a graphic designer/working at home mother as well. My boys are 3,5 and 7 months. Thanks for making my laugh so many times since Monday.
