BlogHer Blab
Below is a comment received from Lisa Stone of BlogHer. With her permission, I’m reposting it here so everyone can read about some of the great things they are doing to make BlogHer more accessible plus a question about the B-List Blog Chicks gig in June and for all us east-coasters, some GOOD NEWS!
- Lisa Stone Says:
April 13th, 2006 at 8:50 pm eOkay, Izzy, I’m breaking out of lurk mode to confess that you’ve found me out: - “My other question: Is BlogHer just an excuse to meet other bloggers, cut loose and have fun or are you genuinely interested in the “conference” aspect. Just curious.”
- Meeting other bloggers, adult beverages AND karaoke were indeed the secret of the event for moi. Until I read about ya’ll’s ass-off. Now I have a new reason for working on this thang. Irresistible!
- I know everyone cannot make it out here and it kills me. Here are a coupla things we’re doing to make it easier: roomshares, rideshares, childcare. If you all plan a meetup in June on the right coast, please email me about it or come blog it in our forums? Tons of folks would be interested.
- And we’ve sworn to bring BlogHer east in 2007…A commitment we’ll deliver on. The question for me is where?

Everyone throw in your two cents for East Coast Blogher!
Thanks, Lisa :)
Unrelated Sidebar: You know when you’re in a bar and the bartenders ring a bell when someone gives them a great tip? Well, I’m ringing that bell for Fidget, who left me a phenomenal tip for her complete blog redesign. She says I have to use the whole thing on myself and I’m thinking that’s a swell idea. Thank you, Fidget :)

My vote for east coast Blogher is Boston. Or Miami. He he.
Fidget’s blog is pretty cool. You’re so talented!
I’m all for an east coast blogher, and I haven’t thought ONE bit about the sessions LOL - but I’m sure I’ll go like a good student of the blogosphere.
And spend away Izzy - you deserve it.
Yay, I’m part off the ass-off! My trunk runneth over , which explains the copious skirts in my closet instead of mom jeans, heh. I’m all about BlogHer East. Great scoop.
Yay for BlogHer East! My vote is for somewhere in the middle of the east coast, like NYC or Virginia Beach.
For BlogHer East, I vote for something mid-to-south on the east coast like Virginia Beach, Hilton Head or Savannah. I adore NYC but if I was there, I don’t think I’d be able to contain myself to Blogher. I’d be running wild all over NY, wanting to do a million things and trying to squeeze in some visits to people etc. Too many distractions for me.
I’ll throw my vote in for somewhere mid-coast. That should make it easy for most people on the east coast to get there. And anytime I can go south of Rhode Island is a treat for me.
Although, Newport would be fun.
I’m all for an East Coast BlogHer meeting! Newport is great, but since I’m a native, I’d want to go South…warm weather!!! I’d say mid-coast, too.
Aw thanks for the linky love and you BETTER spend all on yourself girl!
I think BlogHer should be in Orlando. We can drag the families with us and send them out to the theme parks and such while we all hang out, blab and drink! Plus Orlando has a abundance of hotel rooms ranging from utterly cheap to utterly luxurious. There are lots of places to host it as a “conference” and plenty of places that will give discount loooove. Plus what mom wouldnt rock in teh eyes of her adoring family when she shouts EWe’re going to Disney World or Universal STudios! (im more of a roller coaster gal!)
I checked out the design and it is tres chic. As for an East Coast BlogHer, I think I am too much of a newbie to have a say but I bet it will be a blast!
I’m in favor of an East Coast BlogHer. Boston, Baltimore, Washington, NoVA suburbs, New York, Philadelphia, Miami - all good options. How about a midwestern destination, such as Chicago?
And am I a total geek in that I see this conference as a great networking opportunity, so long as I don’t get COMPLETELY wasted and make an ass of myself?
I’m a West Coast girl, but glad they’re going to be doing one back East next year.
P.S. i updated my blogroll for your new site. Very nice!
Yes to the East Coast BlogHer for next year.
Fidget’s site is gorgeous. Kudos!
This is a great reminder that I have to get my registration in. After I finish my coffee.
Thanks!
p/s Thanks for your comments, and for voting for me. I laughed hard at your ‘Grandma buys the expensive things’ comment to my Nano post. What did my daughter say when she thought there was a chance she wouldn’t be getting one? “Uh, I guess if I don’t get one for my birthday, there’s always Grandma…”
Thanks for posting this Izzy. I’d love to have the opportunity to attend BlogHer on the East Coast.
Why, I think East Coast Blogher would be terrific. In, say, Baltimore. :)
I don’t really understand that e-mail/comment from her, but I REALLY want to go to a BlogHer conference. Really, really!
Okay, I’ll DEFINITELY go if it’s on the East Coast. Philly is okay, but might have more fun in Baltimore or Boston. But HATS OFF for a Charleston, SC conference ANY day. It’s warmer, TONS of fun, and if you’re downtown there is much to see and do, and places to relax just a walk away from great hotels. Hmmm… Not so sure if the airport would accomodate flights from everywhere, though. Maybe Atlanta?
I would LOVE an East Coast BlogHer. Or better yet, a SOUTHEAST blogher.
Philly or Outer Banks NC, or DE beaches
Hiya - thank you Izzy!
I love these suggestions - and I agree that a mid-coast, lower-rent zip code is the way to go. We’d have to do some serious scouting but Baltimore is more likely to help us keep the cost down ($99 for the discussion day, last year and this) than, say, Manhattan. But we’ll have to see! We won’t announce location until the fall of 2006; if anyone’s interested in volunteering to join the research team, come email me at blogher.org?
And Julie, to your question, “am I a total geek in that I see this conference as a great networking opportunity, so long as I don’t get COMPLETELY wasted and make an ass of myself?” If you’re a geek, so am I. Yes, BlogHer is a fantastic networking opportunity. Although I don’t know who could judge you a wasted and/or an ass given the condition everyone else will be in…heh.
P.S. Fidget, you are one lucky woman.
I thought that I posted this comment/question already, but… what’s an ass-off?
